Surgical Oncology/ Cancer Treatment

The surgical oncology, one of the several cancer management treatments, has developed in the same way as that of the medical oncology. It has grown out of different sections of medical science, such as radiation oncology, hematology, and radiology.

Surgical oncology concentrates on diagnosing the stage of a tumor or cancer and treating them. Focusing on surgical management of various tumors, particularly cancer, oncosurgery in India offers different procedures of treatment according to individual need.

Based on the stage, location, type, size and grade of the tumor, surgical o
ncologists determine whether a surgery is needed or not. General factors such as physical fitness, any medical condition that is already there and age may also contribute in deciding the need for a surgery.

Depending on the patient’s condition, a surgery can also include radiat
ion therapy, chemo or hormone therapy as a part of cancer treatment in India. Considering that many therapies may cause side effects, significant precautions may be suggested in advance. These nonsurgical treatments and therapies can be performed after or before surgery to avert further cancer recurrence, growth or spread.

IVF Treatment

In-vitro fertilization is a medical technology where an egg and sperm is combined manually, outside the body. Being one of the most common fertility treatments, the IVF Treatment in India consists of several steps that lead to successful pregnancy.

The IVF treatment is a process through which a sperm fertilizes an ovum or egg in a laboratory atmosphere outside the body. It involves various major steps; such as keeping the ovulatory process of a woman under observation, removing eggs or ova from her ovaries, fertilizing the ova by sperm in a laboratory dish, and transferring the formed embryo to the uterus of the patient.

The birth of Louise Joy Brown, the first test-tube baby, on July 25, 1978, was the first example of successful In-vitro fertilization or IVF. The physiologist Robert G. Edwards received the Nobel Prize in Physiology 2010, for developing this treatment.

The specific fertility problems for which IVF treatment can be helpful are:

  • Oligospermia or lower sperm count

  • Endometriosis

  • Ovulation Problem

  • Problems in fallopian tubes or uterus

  • Sperm failing to enter or survive in cervical mucus

  • Antibody issues harming eggs or sperm

Hepatitis treatment

Hepatitis refers to the inflammatory condition of a liver. This condition can further lead to fibrosis and liver cancer. Though the hepatitis viruses are the main reasons for this condition, other autoimmune diseases, infections and toxic substances may cause it too.

Hepatitis is an illness of liver that is mainly characterized by the existence of inflammatory or swelling cells in the organ tissues. It can occur without any symptoms; but may lead to fatigue, insufficient appetite, and jaundice where the skin and the mucus membranes turn discolored or yellow. Based on its cause, hepatitis can be chronic or acute.

Without showing any symptoms, chronic hepatitis can gradually lead to scarring of liver or fibrosis and long-term liver failure or cirrhosis. Cirrhosis often develops into liver cancer or hepatocellular carcinoma. Acute hepatitis may be self-limiting. However, it may advance to chronic hepatitis; in few cases, can cause severe liver failure. Hepatitis treatment in India can only be offered after determining the type and cause of it.

Hepatitis viruses are the most usual causes of this disease. Though there are other causes, such as swallowing toxic substances, autoimmune diseases, intake of particular medicines, industrial organic liquids and or plants. Non-alcoholic and alcoholic liver diseases may lead to hepatitis as well.

Organ Transplant (Retina, Heart, Kidney, Liver)

In organ transplantation, well-functioning and healthy organs are surgically removed from the donor’s body to replace the absent or damaged organs of the recipient. Cells or organs transferred or replaced within the body of the same person are called autograft.

Organ transplantation refers to the process of transferring or replacing the abnormal and diseased tissue with live and healthy tissue that can be removed from the same or different body. It is through organ transplantation that non-functioning or damaged organs are replaced with living and healthy organs. The donors, from whom the live organs are transferred, may be a dead or a living person.

The Government of India strictly and closely regulates all processes of organ transplant in India. The strict law in India does not allow any kind of commercial transactions between the organ recipient and the donor. Only the close relatives who are connected to the family by blood relation can donate their organs to a patient.

In the case of an unrelated person who is willing to donate his or her organ to the patient, special permissions must be acquired from the Indian Government. If the recipient or the donor or both of the parties are foreign nationals and are opting for the transplant operation in this country, then there are different requirements. The relation between the foreign recipient and donor must be certified by the government of the concerned country or any senior officials of that country’s embassy.
